Discussions in private

(N.Z. Press Association) HAMILTON. The Waikato University Council today excluded the public from discussions on a proposed inquiry into allegations of professional misconduct at the university. Council members voted against a motion to discuss the inquiry in the public part of the council meeting. The Vice-Chancellor (Dr D. R. Llewellyn) confirmed that the Governor-General (Sir Denis Blundell) had rejected the council’s request for him to hold the inquiry as the university visitor. An independent committee of inquiry was proposed as an alternative by Dr Llewellyn.
