IMPORTED WINES

N.Z. need have | no fears Because New Zealand could produce table wines of good quality it need not fear the importation of such wines from Australia, said Mr D. McWilliam, the general manager of McWilliams Wines of Australia, in Christchurch yesterday. He said new varieties of grape had been planted, particularly in the Hawke’s Bay area, and the wines from them had been successful at New Zealand wine shows. These wines were not available vet in quantity, but ,Mr McWilliam forecast they would become available in the next few years. Mr McWilliam has spent the last two days in Christchurch meeting local meri chants who handle his company's products.
