A delegation of northern- [ based transport-dependent) industry executives called on) the Minister of Labour (Mr| Watt) today to seek hisj blessing on their plan to ; form a joint committee to meet labour problems. The chairman of the newly-formed disputes negotiating committee, Mr Charles Kibblewhite, said Mr Watt’s reaction to the joint front concept was “favourable.” Mr Kibblewhite and his colleagues will be having talks in Auckland tomorrow: with the secretary of the: Northern Drivers’ Union (Mr) G H. Andersen).

"We’re trying to get the unions to act responsibly, but we’ll match their strength and militancy with some of our own if necessary,” said Mr Kibblewhite, who declined to name the company he represented.
