Any curtailment of the use of 1080 poison would have drastic effects on pest control in New Zealand, both in economy and efficiency, said the Under-Secretary of Agriculture (Mr Barclay) yesterday. “The indiscriminate use of poisons or inhumane methods of trapping animals cannot and should not be condoned,” Mr Barclay told the annual conference of the South Island Pest Destruction Boards Association.
