CORSO
Sir, — Lest the withdrawal from CORSO of the British Medical Association of New Zealand on grounds of “disagreements with its present internal aims and with money being spent in New Zealand” have overmuch effect on people who have not followed the debate, let it be said that the money that was spent oh the controversial education policy within New Zealand during last year was only 2 per cent of the total received by CORSO. Such spending, if successful, will serve to increase not Only our country’s giving • to CORSO, but also its understanding and concern for what CORSO is trying to-do. In effect, it is advertising which should pay off. With regard to alms, CORSO, in espousing Action for World Development, seeks to probe causes of world poverty and, through trade, tariffs etc., to tackle them more directly than when confined to emergency relief and development projects. Surely this is a laudable extension. — Yours, etc., JOY JOHNSTON. Hokitika. June 20,1974.
