Niue stamp issue

A set of four stamps commemorating the bicentenary of Captain Cook’s visit to Niue Island will be issued by the Niue Post Office on June 20. The stamps were designed by Allan Mitchell of Wellington and printed in England. The 2c design features the bow of Captain Cook’s vessel with Niue in the background; the 3c. Captain Cook’s landing place on Niue with his vessel in the background; the Bc, a map of Niue; and the 20c, the present Niue Administration building and the ensign of 1974.

In New Zealand, the stamps : can be purchased from the) Philatelic Bureau, Private' Bag, Wellington (mail orders), philatelic sales offices, and the Chief Post Office, Welling-i ton.

A first day cover has been produced for this issue. Orders for these should reach the Philatelic Bureau no later than June 6. Forty-one cents a cover should be forwarded with each order.
