i The Fijian Trades Union (Congress has called a general (strike to begin on Monday to protest against Government wage controls. The secretary of the congress (Mr James Raman) said that the strike would continue indefinitely. The congress includes most of Fiji’s larger unions, but [some, including the oil workers and the airline workers, are affiliated with the Fiji 'Council of Trade Unions.
