Railways freight handling

Sir, —I know we are reading every day of delays in cargo arriving in the South Island. My daughter had a trunk from Britain arrive in Wellington eight weeks ago. After negotiations with the P. & O. shipping line and the Railways Department they still cannot tell usi when it will arrive at Christchurch. The Railways: say cargo has been lying at Wellington four months and we will just have to wait. If this is correct surely the whole system needs overhauling—a job for the Ombudsman perhaps? — Yours, etc.. HAVE PATIENCE. May 16, 1974.
