Scots lose to Irish

(N.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. The World Cup qualifier, Scotland, went down to a 0-1 home defeat against Northern Ireland, and England beat Wales, 2-0, when the British soccer championship began on Saturday. The Irish, unrated in the four-nation tournament, beat Scotland 2-1, in the corresponding match last year, and T. Cassidy’s goal in the thirty ninth minute was enough to humiliate the Scots again.

Tourists still unbeaten

(N.Z. Press Assn—Copyright) CANBERRA.

The touring New Zealand under 16 soccer team kept its unbeaten record intact with a 5-0 win over Australian Capital Territory yesterday.

The tourists scored two quick goals and coasted for the remainder of a one-sided match. N. Reid gave an excellent opportunist display in scoring three, and the other scorers were A. Taylor and R. Mulligan.
