(H.Z.P. A.-Reuter—Copyright) LONDON. The holder, Australia, and India were level, at 1-1, after two marathon singles matches in their Davis Cup (eastern zone) final. Jasjit Singh gave India the lead by beating R. Giltinan, 11-9, 9-11 12-10, 8-6. and J. Alexander squared the match by defeating V. Amritraj, 14-12, 17-15, 6-8, 6-2.

In the European zone quarterfinals, Austria and France were 1-1 in group A, and Jugoslavia led Egypt, 2-1, - and West Germany and Spain were 1-1 in group B. The Netherlands gained a winning. 3-0. lead over Finland in a third round group A match and will meet the winner between Sweden and Poland. In the American zone final, South Africa led Colombia, 2-0.
