Six-match suspension
The Marist-Western Suburbs Rugby league hooker, C. J. Brereton. has been suspended for six club matches as an aftermath of his dismissal from the field during the Tavendale Cup fixture against Kaiapol at the Show Grounds last Wednesday night.
Mr M. R. Clinton, the chairman of the Canterbury board of control, announced the sentence imposed on Brereton after the matter had been discussed In committee at last evening's meeting. In deciding on the length of the suspension, the board’s judiciary' committee had taken Into account that Brereton had been sent off on a similar charge —the referee (Mr T. C. Houston accused him of "indiscriminate kicking”—ln a lower grade last year. He had been stood down for three matches on that occasion, Mr Clinton said SELECTORS Selection panels elected for the season were:— Senior firsts, Messrs D. C Wilson (convener), G. J. Norman. J. K. Broughton. Senior seconds. Messrs J. Anderson (convened, R. Edkin-q R. Broadhurst. Senior thirds, Messrs F. J. Duane (convener), P. Williams. J. F. McVlcar. 19 years. Messrs D. J. Alsop (convener), W, J. Godfrey, R. Hamburger. 17 tears. Messrs I. Jenkins (convener). J. Robinson, K G. Alien
