Mr Giscard d’Estaing has! far outstripped his Gaullist[ • rival, Mr Jacques Chaban[Delmas, and seems almost jcertain to face Mr. Francois i Mitterrand, the champion of! jthe Left, in the run-off bal-! [lot for the Presidency. I According to the latest! •poll published in the daily! newspaper. “L’Aurore,” 43 [per cent of voters intend to! ■support Mr Mitterrand in ithe first round next Sunday;! '3l per cent, Mr Giscard) [d’Estaing; and only 17 per! 'cent, Mr Chaban-Delmas. j Of those questioned, 87 per cent said that their minds were definitely made, up, and ‘'L’Aurore” says that [only some dramatic event can now change the voting picture.
