Manapouri study

(N.Z. Press Association) DUNEDIN, March 8. A University of Canterbury study of the beaches at Lake Manapouri will begin next week. The study will determine where the sandy materia] on the beaches comes from, and how it is affected by wave action at various levels of the lake. The Guardians of Manapouri are concerned that the lake is being used by the New Zealand Electricity Department at a level too low for the beaches, for too long. "They are beginning to show damage,” Dr A. Mark, the chairman of the guardians, said today.
