Dispute not settled
I No settlement was reached I yesterday in the dispute over (incentive rates for opening Roysters. The dispute affects most large wholesalers in Canterbury. The oyster workers’ union hopes to have a final meeting with employers early next week before calling for support from the Drivers’ Union and the Seamen’s Union to ban the handling of oysters coming into Canterbury. The workers are seeking an incentive payment of 7c a dozen for opening oysters instead of the present 6.36 c a dozen. Yesterday the employers offered 6.685 c a [dozen, which was not accepted.
