Survey for fishing
’From Our Own Reporter) NELSON, Mar 7. ' Except for 11 days, between December II and 22, 1 the Japanese crab ship Satsu Maru carried out its survey entirely in the Pukaki Rise 1 area, about 250 miles from the Auckland Islands, said Caotain R. J Rae in Nelson. Captain Rae accompanied the vessel on the survey to i compile a feasibility report for Sealord Products Ltd. 1 Nelson. Captain Rae said that he was a little concerned that the article in ‘‘The Press”) on Thursday morning on the i survey tended to indicate ' that the fishing had been carried out at the Auckland Islands. This was not the case The Satsu Maru earned a special licence for the survey and, while she was near the islands fishing, two New Zealand Government research vessels were also there There were no other Japanese ships fishing for crab at the islands; those there were at the Pukaki Rise, he said.
