P and O reef interests
The British-controlled P and O Shipping Group has announced that it is interested in buying interests in “four or five” Great Barrier Reef island resorts, when giving details of a $500,000 plan to expand tourist facilities on Heron Island. After the Australian Federal Government’s prohibition last month on P and O buying shares in Lindeman Island, the group has acquired 53 per cent of the shares in Heron Island.
