DECISION CHANGED Oil station generating

(N.Z. Press Association) AUCKLAND. I Marsden Point, the coun- 1 try’s largest oil-fired power station, began generating for! the national grid on Saturday evening. The station’s generators i have been idle since December 3, when, because of the i oil crisis, the Government! ordered all power generation: from oil to stop. Faced with a steadily deteriorating amount of water available for producing power from the hydro stations, the Government today reversed its decision.

Approval for generation of electricity by oil-fired stations was given by the Minister of Electricity (Mr McGuigan) after he discussed the power situation with the; 'Minister of Energy Resources I (Mr Freer).
