ORDER ON WAGES Allowances included

(N.Z Press Association) WELLINGTON, Feb. 18. The scope of the recent 2.7 per cent wage adjustment order is being enlarged to cover special payments and allowances (other than reimbursing allowances). This was announced today by the Minister of Labour (Mr Watt), who said that amendments to the Economic Stabilisation Regulations would come into force tomorrow.

) “The amendment enlarges the scope of the wage adjustment order by providing that the 2.7 per cent increase will apply both to the rates of wages specified in awards and* industrial agreements and to special payments and allowances (other than reimbursing allowances) in those awards and agreements,” Mr Watt said.

“The amendment will avoid arguments as to whether a payment in an award or industrial agreement is a rate of wage or) some type of allowance. The amendment brings the position in line with the prac-! tice that used to be adopted with general wage orders, and should simplify the operation of the 2.7 per cent 1 increase."
