Irrigation danger
i 'N.Z. Press Association) | NELSON. Irrigation jets sweeping across the roadway in the Motueka Borough are causing a danger, the borough council has been told. The practice was dangerous, especially for motorcyclists who could be knocked off their machines by the jets of water, said the Motueka traffic officer (Mr E. K. Davy) in his ■ monthly report. i “At night having your I windscreen obscured suddenly by water is, for a 'motorist, a startling experience,” he said. I A potentially dangerous situation could be averted byfarmers, said Mr Davy, but Cr R. A. Blomfield said the suggestion was ridiculous—there was no way farmers could make the jets spray in a square. Cr E. J. Smith said that 'only a slight change of wind direction could add an extra 30 feet on to a jet of water.
