The political backlash from the latest profit of Bougainville Copper. Ltd, has scared buyers in the stock on the Sydney sharemarket. The price of the shares has dropped since the profit announcement triggered a storm of protest in the Papua New Guinea Government. An immediately-effective corporate tax of 80 per cent on the operating company for the Bougainville mine and immediate negotiations by the Government to take a controlling interest in the mine has been called for.
