Injuries by stingray

.V.Z. Pre« ls.sr>< ,'ulum .■ PALM. NORI H. Feb. 5 A \outh is still in considerable pain after a stingray ; attack at Taumai Beach, ■near Bulls, on Sunday. John Zander, aged 17. an i apprentice mechanic, and I three other Bulls people ■ were fishing with a light i nylon net in about three feet j of water when the stingray 'whipped Mr Zander with its (tail. The ray’s tail-spike gouged a hole in the calf of one j leg, and severely ga-hed the 'other leg at the ankle. I Marine zoological experts I thought the ray to be the j short-tail poisonous type. and for a time there was worry that Mr Zander might be affected. However, profuse bleeding is thought to have removed the danger. Both legs heavily bandaged, and on crutches. Mr Zander is still under constant medical surveillance.
