Accommodation for students needed
Much residential accommodation for j students at the University of Canterbury this year was required, the university’s accommodation officer (Miss A. F. Borrie) said on Monday.
Miss Borrie said that now that the Commonwealth Games were over the university must appeal to householders who are able to provide board for young men either from New Zealand or ! overseas. i “For men students the ■situation is particularly difIficult as Canterbury seems to 'be predominantly a male uniIversity, especially for (students living away from 'home.” I “Most of our overseas;
’ students are male,” added ! Miss Borrie. In spite of the new halls ' of residence that had opened ■ at the University of Canter- ■ bury, hall accommodation is i still short. Miss Borrie said that it) was necessary for student) ■ board to be arranged as ■ soon as possible. Enrolment i week started on February 25. Householders who are) ■able to offer assistance are i asked to phone Miss Borrie at 65-819 (extensions 771 or >1761.) I
