The Lands and Survey Department has delayed action to remove fishing shacks from the southern shores of Lake Benmore. The department announced in December that it would demolish or forcibly remove any shacks still standing at Haldon Arm on January 31. Since then representatives of the Haldon Arm Recreation Association have asked the Minister of Lands (Mr Rata) to reconsider the matter. The acting Minister of Lands (Mr Faulkner) announced yesterday that no further Government action would be taken until the end of March.
