WELLINGTON. New Zealand lost $lO,OOO taking part in the Davis Cup last year, the management committee of the New Zealand Lawn Tennis Association has been told in Wellington. The chairman of the association (Mr I. D. Wells) said the Davis Cup campaign had cost about $15,000, and the association w’ould lose $lO,OOO. About $6OOO of this would be carried into the 1974 accounts, he said. “Not many other countries are involved in the cost that we are,” Mr Wells said.

Cricket.—The West Indies cricketer, G. S. Sobers, has agreed to play for Nottinghamshire again next season under the new captain. J. Bond, the county club has announced.

N.I. croquet.—The handicap doubles title at the North Island croquet championships in Napier has been won bv F. Bennett and Miss G. Porter (Hawke’s Bay).
