Harewood drawing many firms

All 30 lots in an industrial subdivision around Wairakei Road, Roydvale Avenue, and Sheffield Crescent at Harewood have been taken up, five new industrial plants have been built there or are nearing completion, and another four are well under way.

The development has been; particularly rapid over the. last six months, as the Waimairi County Council has approved of town-planning, applications to enable the land to be occupied. The block comprises 70 acres, and includes the 15acre industrial zone on the north side of Wairakei Road, on which the factory of Millers Ltd, has been established for some years. The lots range in size from 30 perches to 7 acres, land the council is aware of plans by some of the city’s I bigger industries to move; unto the block. I “We are waiting to hear; from the footwear-manufac-turing firm of O'Briens Ltd; Buntings Ltd, who make; brushware: and Fisher and; Paykel Ltd., home-appliance manufacturers, all of which have indicated that they will be moving in,” said the i council’s town-planning offiIcer (Mr R.
