A field of 10 Will contest the ,$6OOO New Zealand Standardbred -Stakes at the Canterbury Park ■Trotting Club's Commonwealth ‘Games meeting at Addington Raceway on January 26. The club invited 12 horses to nominate, but two of the North Island mares have been withdrawn. Rana was sore after ! contesting the Wellington Cup on Tuesday, and it was decided to return her north. False Dream raced so poorly at the Wellington meeting that it was decided not to bring her south. Marie Gibbins and Hill Crest which have drawn favourably at No. 4 and No. 2 respectively, will represent the North Island in the mile race, which is re stricted to mares and fillies. As well as sharing in the stake of $6OOO and a trophy valued at $2OO. the owners of the first five to finish will be eligible to receive free services ,to the stallions. Card Shark, Mark Lobell Regal Yankee. Good Chase, and Armbro Del. The field for the race, in which seven horses will start from the front line from behind the mobile barrier, is: Gay- Rose (9), Golden Guest ;6>, Hill Crest (2). Levana <7).
