<X.Z. Press Association >

DUNEDIN, January 14. i The Shotover Bridge near ■ Frankton in Central Otago has been closed by the Ministry of Works after a fire early this morning seriously damaged three spans and the bridge decking. A Ministry spokesman said the cause of the fire was not known, but there were no suspicious circumstances. He said a detour had been set up through Arrowtown and Arthurs Point. ) It was hoped to reopen the ibridge on Friday, but this depended on the availability Jof suitable timber to replace damaged sections.
