Record deal in soccer j (.V.Z P.A Reuter —Copyright LONDON. The Chelsea soccer stars, P. Osgood and A. Hudson, valued jointly at about $770,000. were yesterday put up for transfer. A club statement said: “Hudson and Osgood both refused to train with the first team squad this morn ing and have been suspended by the club for one week. Both have expressed a wish to move and Chelsea are making them available for transfer immediately.”
The club's decision might spark the biggest transfer Ideal in English soccer history, with both players likely to fetch more than the English record of about $340,000 which Derby iCounty paid Leicester City I for D. Nish. Another soccer star in trouble yesterday was Manchester United’s controversial Irishman, G. Best, who resumed his playing career this season after quitting the game for a year. Best failed to appear at United’s training session yesterday morning, starting speculation that he had once again turned his back on soccer. United is at present fighting against relegation.
