Wyndham meeting stopped
(S'.Z. Press Association) INVERCARGILL.
The Wyndham Racing Club’s second attempt yesterday to stage its New Year meeting was little more successful than the first. After two races the club’s committee decided to abandon the meeting because of the dangerous state of the track. Two days earlier the meeting had been postponed for the same reason.
During the running of the first race yesterday it was apparent that riders were showing great caution. Most of the senior horsemen declined their engagements for the second race, the Members’ Memorial Handicap and in almost all cases they were replaced by apprentices. , In this event. Telbrae (G. D. Mcßae), one of the leaders to the straight, slipped and fell. Lucky Fountain (S. J. Allen) I crashed over the top of him, ;and others had their chances 1 wrecked.
Mcßae escaped with extensive 'bruising and was admitted to (hospital for observation. Allen was not injured. ! Results of the two races held: NOVICE STAKES $1009; 1200 m. 3/3 CALADAM (3) 53 B.
