CHINA Your commentator on “Points of Viewing” cannot be certain whether the eye is deceived by the camera, in the remarks on Felix Greene in his TV programme on China. Two weeks ago we saw a film of the drought in Ethiopia with its suffering, and this was followed by the film on China. If we believe one we must believe the other. As many visitors to China all have the same story to tell of conditions there, it may be taken that Felix Greene’s films on China are accurate descriptions of life in that country. There are always doubters and one-eyed people.—P.J.A.
