New Zealanders still going to Britain
(Sw Zealand Press Association) DUNEDIN, January 3. Britain’s deepening economic gloom seems to have done nothing to deter hundreds of New Zealanders from planning trips and working holidays to the United Kingdom.
Last year the British High Commission in Wellington issued 545 entry permits to the United Kingdom. An official said today that immigration officers had not noticed any slackening of interest in trips to Britain lately. Many of those planning trips would be hoping to find temporary jobs there—in spite of heavy unemployment i and the three-day working week imposed bv the British Government.
