».v.Z Press Association t AUCKLAND The top seeds had little, difficulty in playing their way through to the third round in the Bass Auckland tennis championships, which started yesterday. R J. Simpson, seeded one, fresh from his win in the Wellington championships, coasted through the third round with a 6-2, 6-2. win over the New South Wales, junior. M. Lawrence. R. McGhie. the defending champion had two wins, the; third round after wins over,' R. Rumery (New South: Wales) and J. Fergusson (Auckland). In his first-round, match, McGhie was taken to three sets by Rumery. The highest-ranked over-| seas players. H. Fickentscher (West Germany), the No. 8 seed, and A. Shapter (New; Caledonia), the No. 9. were not hard pressed. Shapter has dropped only two games in his matches so far and Fic- ! kentscher three.
