OBITUARY Mr C. C. Steel
A man with wide commun- • ity interests and a flair for music and literature, died in Christchurch on Christmas Day. He was Mr Cyril Campbell Steel. Mr Steel was a counsellor for Lifeline for the last three 'years and served on a number of other community sertvice organisations. He was a i member of the board of the Christchurch Civic Orchestra land the committee of the Chamber Music Society. He • left a collection of several i thousand records. Mr Steel gained a B.A. from Canterbury University • and taught at Papanui High • School and Christ’s College. He also lectured briefly at the university. As a young ’man he was a notable sprinter, winning a sprint double in an inter-secondary school championships. At the time of his death he was developing a keen interest in breeding light harness horses. His father was the wellknown publican. “Hughey” Steel. He is survived by his wife and four children. T.S.T. expands Kwikasair. Ltd. a subsidiary of the Australian Thomas Nationwide Transport (T.N.T.) group, has acquired Abbey Freight Services, Ltd. a British registered road transport company which. operates a regular LondonGeneva freight service. Kwikasair had not bought Abbey shares, but had acquired its fleet of trucks and taken over Abbey's rental responsibilities for its Geneva terminal, the company said. No details of the consideration were given. Kwikasair intends to use its own fleet of trucks
