Fire sweeps 80 acres
(From Our Own Reporter) GREYMOUTH, Dec. 25. Fire swept through 80 acres of cut-over bush in the Hochstetter State forest on the West Coast at the weekend. The Westland Conservator of Forests (Mr W. R. Pedder) said yesterday that he was almost certain that the fire was man-made, although it was not known who was responsible. Mr Pedder said that a permit was necessary before any fire could be lit within a mile of any State forest, reserve or national park.
