Cook Islands betting

(Special Crspdt. N.Z.P.A.) RAROTONGA. Cook Islanders will soon be able to bet on local. New Zealand. and Australian horse racing under a bill which had a second reading in the Legislative Assembly at Rarotonga yesterday. The Cook Island Totallsator BUI was introduced by the Minister of Social Services. Profits from the gambling will be distributed among sports clubs and community organisations. Tax and levy deductions will be 20 per cent. (In New Zealand. It is 19.8 per cent.)

The Minister has studied New Zealand and Australian bettine systems.
