KOREAN DETENTE
Talks to be resumed

North and South Korean Government representatives will meet again next Wednesiday to discuss how to rejopen their detente talks, sus- • pended since last August. It will be the second such meeting between Mr Chang Key-yong and Mr Yoo Changsik, the vice-chairmen of the > North-South co-ordinating • committee, the channel of the I official dialogue between the ; two sides. ! The two met in the border I village of Panmunjom last i Wednesday to try to break ' the deadlock arising from a i North Korean call, last August, for the removal of > the then Southern co-chair- ■ man of the committee, Mr i Lee Hu-rak. North Korea accused Mr I Lee, who was then director ■ of the South Korean Central : Intelligence Agency, of being a gangster responsible for arrest of pro-North Korean ; figures in the South. Mr Lee i resigned, both as co-ordinat-ing committee co-chairman i and C.LA. director, earlier this month.
