Visit by band?

(N.Z.P.A. Stai! Correspondent) HONG KONG, November 15. The famous Black Watch band would like to visit New Zealand at the time of the Commonwealth Games next year — if it is invited. “We’d love to go,” said Bandmaster N. Rogerson today. The suggestion that the band might visit New Zealand arose informally when a grenadier company of the first battalion of the Black Watch was in New Zealand

on exercises earlier this year. However, Bandmaster Rogerson said he had ’heard nothing more about it. “We have no commitments at the time of the Games and we would certainly be happy to go if we were invited,” he said. “I’m sure the Royal Air Force would be able to fly us there.” Lord Ballantrae, the former Governor-General, is colonel of the Black Watch and has visited the regiment in Hong Kong. No comment on the possible visit of the band could be obtained from Games officials last evening.
