(N.Z. Press Association) MELBOURNE. A Melbourne businessman and trotting owner, Mr B. Ahern, has paid an Australian record of $320,000 for the four-year-old American pacer. Hilarious Way. Last month, Mr Ahern paid $212,000 for the American pacing stallion, Kentucky. He has bought both horses for stud duties. Mr Ahern, one of the State’s biggest cartage and storage contractors, races the top Victorian four-year-old, Royal Gaze. Hilarious Way was owned by the pet food tycoon, Mr C. Gains, of Sherbourne. New York. He has a winning record of Imin 55 l-ssec.
