New appeal by Mene on Monday
The appeal by the Meri--vale-Papanui senior player, W. Mene, against his suspend sion by the Canterbury Rugby Union will be heard by a general meeting of club delegates next Monday evening. In September, the union’s management committee su<pended Mene until July next year for careless and dangerous play, resulting in injury’ to the referee (Mr G. P. I Aker). Mene is appealing against, jboth the finding and the, penalty. The union secretary (Mr N. F. Moffitt) said yesterday that (clubs had been circulated’ with copies of the evidence! taken by the managemen}committee. There are about 100 delegates eligible to attend Mon--t day’s meeting.
