“Authority on electronics”
sm,—Mr Drayton in his reply to my earlier letter acknowledged that he was not a “recognised electronic authority” but he did not deny that he was “an expert on computers;” nor did he supply any details as to his qualifications in the computer' field but merely mentioned his experience in electronic data processing in the R.N.Z.A.F. His experience apparently did not carry any qualifications or he would surely have quoted them. This raises the question has he had sufficient experience to enable him to lead the Government Caucus Committee to a correct decision on the establishment of a Justice Data Bank. After giving a definite promise last year, of “no Justice Data Bank under Labour,” he is now able to reverse that decision. How can an expert, with all Mr Drayton’s experience, change his mind so quickly on a question of such vital importance to every New Zealand citizen? — Yours, etc.. “WILLIAM BARRON.” i November 12, 1973.
