CERTIFICATES FOR BRAVERY

The Deputy Mayor of Kaiapoi (Mr T. M. Ayers) presenting certificates of merit, awarded by the Royal Humane Society of New Zealand, to Messrs R. L. Kennv (right) and M. T. Reeves (left) at the beginning of last evening’s borough council meeting.

The certificates were aw’arded to the men for their rescue, by jet boat, of a fisherman who was sw’ept out to sea off the mouth of the Waimakariri River on January 25, 1972.
