Australian dancers
“Tangle” — described as “a dance in and out of music and silence” — will be shown on CHTV3 tomorrow evening. With Peter Sharp as the producer, it was recorded in Christchurch last year during the Australian Dance Theatre’s tour of New Zealand.
The Australian Dance Theatre has performed all over Australia as well as making tours of Europe and America. During 1971 it also made a tour of six Asian I countries. It has been widely acclaimed.
The company was formed in 1965 by Elizabeth Cameron Dalman, now the artistic director. Beginning her careeri : dancing and teaching classical i ballet. Sfie went on to study; modern dancing abroad. In recent years she has pioneered the development of indigenous Australian modern dance, drawing her inspiration from Aboriginal mythology and modern Australian composers. The choreographer of i “Tangle” was Ray Cook and the set was designed by Nick I Reed.
