An Invercargill man, An-' thony Richard Giles, aged 31, was sentenced to four years! gaol this morning when he ' appeared before Mr Justice Quilliam in the Supreme ) Court at Invercargill. Last week he was found guilty by I a jury of the manslaughter : of his wife.

The Crown said Giles killed his wife at Oreti Beach by a blow to the head with an engineer’s hammer, after she told him she was leaving him for another man.
