CHARITY RUGBY
Cantabrians beaten (N.Z. Press Association) NAPIER. The Hawke’s Bay Saracens easily beat the Cantabrians in a charity Rugby match at McLean Park, Napier, yesterday. After leading 24-6 at halftime, the Saracens, among whose players were C. E. Meads, B. Lochore, B. McLeod, M. Duncan, A. Sutherland, I. Macrae and the Australian, J. Hipwell, won 52-24. Hipwell gave a polished performance, but the outstanding player was the Hawke’s Bay and New Zealand junior, R. Hunter, who scored four tries. Meads scored a try after dribbling the ball about 25 yards.
The game was watched by about 6000.
Scorers: — Saracens: Hunter (four), Meads, G. Wiig, K. Bracewell, R. Knight (two), and McLeod tries; Bracewell (five), McRae conversions. Cantabrians: R. Sutherland, I. Taylor P. Hickman, A. Hopkinson tries; F. McCormick two penalties and a conversion.
