The Jugoslavian Tennis Federation on Saturday suspended N. Pilic, its No. 1 player, for refusing to play against New Zealand in the Davis Cup competition, Associated Press reported. Pilic, a member of World Championship Tennis competing in the United States, cabled his regrets and said he would be available to play against Rumania in the next round—if Jugoslavia managed to beat New Zealand. Jugoslavia, in fact, trailed New Zealand, 1-2, with two singles remaining, after Saturday’s play.
