Standardbred sale at Invercargill
(.Veto Zealand Press Association) INVERCARGILL. After the catalogue had been depleted considerably because of 19 w lots were sold for a total of at th Southland Standardbred Sale in Invercargill yesterday.
Seventy-seven lots were catalogued. but withdrawals reduced that figure to 58 offered. Of these. 27 were passed The sale average was just more than $5OO. On J- v .the 31 lots sold reached SIOW or more. The top price of the sale «a; $lO5O. paid by Mr B. R. Harvey, of Gore, for a weanling filly by Scottish Command from the Garrison Hanover mare. Miss Billarook. Offered on behalf of Mr J. O Crooks, jun., of Oteramlka, she is closelv related to Grano Finale. RestabeU, Dorothy Jean, and Vedette There was a demand for wean Ungs with good backgrounds. Mr N J. Drake, of Invercargill, received $lOOO for a colt by Ternpest Hanover from the Dick Adios mare. Cirrus, which is closely related to Kiwi Grattan and Kiwi Hanover. Parramatta Livestock, of by* Inev. paid the same price for a colt by Scottish Command from
the Fallacv marc. False Queen. Six of the 12 weanlings offered (were sold for s4o2s—an average of just over $670 The top price for a yearling was $lOOO for a half-brother by • Tempest Hanover to Carriers Arms and Shortwaves. I Eight of the 19 yearlings offered were sold for s4Boo—an I average of S6OO.
