Dalkeith Lad fit
Dalkeith Lad should be a strong runner for Rlccarton In the Dunedin Jockey Club's Aidworth Hack Handicap today. A three-year-old of attractive physique, breeding and temperament, Dalkeith Lad held a short lead over his stablemate, Eidl, after galloping a mile in 1.46 on the trial grass at Rlccarton on Thursday. R. B. Taggart’s pair quickened for the last half mile . in 51 2-5. Dalkeith Lad, an Agricola gelding closely related to the brilliant ' Cadiz, had a set-back a few weeks ago after being kicked on ' a shoulder, but will go to Winga-
tui at his peak and should be a match for the best of the southern staying hacks. Adman, a candidate for the Momona Stakes No. 2 at Wingatui, was better than his stablemate, Yarrabee, over three furlongs on the plough. Adman 'finished just ahead and recorded 39 4-ssec.
Shudup was keen to quicken alongside his stablemate Smack, in the straight, while running half a mile on the grass in -51. Shudup appears to have thrived since he last raced, and will be a strong contender for two-year-old races at Rlccarton at Easter. King Commander recorded ,52 1-5 for his half mile and Jury followed in 52.
Rustikhan, an acceptor for the Outram Stakes at Wingatui, did not accompany his stablemates, Condor and Bonzer Luck, south on Thursday. He drew badly in an outsized field, and he will not race until the North Canterbury meeting. M. Thornley will now ride Tungsten Blade in the Outram Stakes.
