Plans to hold a chess tournament in the Netherlands between Europe and the Rest of the World may be dropped because of the “exorbitant” fees demanded by the world chess champion, R. J. Fischer. Mr Willem Ruth, chairman of the Dutch Chess Federation, told a press conference that the match was being planned for next September to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Dutch federation.
