Chemistry award

Professor L. F. Phillips, a professor of chemistry at the University of Canterbury who has been awarded the Corday-Hurgan Medal and Prize for 1973 by the British Society of Chemical Research, is not the first New Zealander to gam the prize for research work. Dr D. A. Buckingham, who was educated at Rangiora High School and the University of Canterbury, won the prize in 1970 for his work on transition metal complexes. Dr Buckingham is at present on sabbatical leave ’from the Australian National University and is on a lecture tour of the United States including a. series of lectures ■at Stanford University.
