Ford dealers throughout Australia sold a record 132,116 vehicles in 1972, an increase of 19,406 units or 17.2 per cent over 1971, the previous best year, the Press Association reports. The result was achieved in spite of an estimated drop of more than 3000 vehicles in total industry sales for 1972. In addition to its domestic sales, Ford Australia exported more than 21,000 units, worth almost $36.5m.
Experts in Britain have estimated that 10 to 15 per cent of drivers with normal day vision have limited night vision, which makes them potentially dangerous on the road at night.
car racing team in the United States, has won the Nascar driving championship for an unprecedented fourth time. He scored his winning points in the final series race in Bryan, Texas, by finishing third, inches behind B. Baker and A. J. Foyt after 500 miles. His third place and title win gained him $31,220 in prize-money.
There are expected to be 15 championship races in the Formula I series this year, provided the promoters and drivers reach agreement on their financial problems. The races will include the Dutch Grand Prix, which has returned to the calendar after a short absence, and new races in Brazil and Sweden. The first event will be the Brazilian race on February 11.
